J.W. Robison
I am, of course, here to help individual investors and families but there is a special place in my heart for business owners. I’ve operated several myself and I know it can be tough. I like to work with anyone seeking to build financial freedom. I like to help everyday people learn how a combination of tax-smart investments, frugal economic behaviors and the right amount of insurance can help you achieve your goals.
I became an investment advisor for a number of reasons:
- I studied commodity futures in pursuit of my B.S. in agriculture.
- I was a professional farmer for 10 years and I always thought my ag lender had the better job.
- My father helped me open a traditional IRA with my farm income in middle school. He took me to our local broker’s office in rural Missouri and I bought a mutual fund.
- After my wife and I had our first child, I wanted more control in my life while maintaining the autonomy from owning a business. I wanted to use my knack for planning to help more than just my own family. The best part of my job is learning about the families whom I serve – I love their stories. Truly learning about my clients and understanding their goals is the foundation of my work as a financial advisor.

- There are three things I strive to provide my clients throughout our time working together:
- A clear explanation of the investments I recommend.
- Timely updates on market conditions and volatility.
- Transparent explanations of costs.
Prior to working in finance, I was a rice farmer working on my family’s farm in Missouri and have also farmed in Kenya and Ghana. My wife and I have been married for 18 years and have a 9-year-old daughter. Outside of the office, hiking and camping in Arizona makes me very happy.
