Why I became a financial advisor
I believe that preserving a legacy requires careful planning, strategy, and governance. My journey towards this belief began with a painful lesson learned when my father passed away prematurely, leaving our family’s inheritance vulnerable to loss in court. I share this personal story to emphasize the importance of securing your legacy and ensuring the well-being of your loved ones.
My Father’s Story
Though not wealthy, my father inherited a valuable estate along the picturesque Santa Barbara coastline. This property had been passed down through three generations of Riva men, a legacy meant to endure for centuries. Tragically, my father’s lack of estate planning led to its forfeiture.
My upbringing along the Santa Barbara coastline allowed me to forge cherished memories on our family estate. I intimately knew every tree planted on that land. However, the legacy we cherished was abruptly taken from us due to a lack of foresight.
Over the years, I watched as the property deteriorated in the hands of indifferent renters. Witnessing this loss and being unable to pass the torch to future generations remains the most heart-wrenching part of my journey.
Why we focus on generational solutions
Time is fleeting, and the future is uncertain. My father’s untimely death taught me that it’s never too early to protect your legacy. Today is the day to secure your legacy and provide your family with peace of mind in case of unforeseen events.
